Welcome to our second California CDL Pre-Trip Inspection Practice Test! This intuitive tool includes questions related to the pre-trip inspection, similar to those you will encounter on the official General Knowledge Exam. You can use this practice test to improve your knowledge through active learning, just like 86 other California residents who are currently in a training session. Whether you have a few minutes of free time during a busy day or you’re setting aside several hours for an extended study session during the weekend, you can train with this practice test as often as your schedule allows.

It is April 2026, and we live in a digital age where studying involves screens instead of books. Digital eye strain is a common condition affecting more and more students, especially during longer study sessions. All of our practice tests include a slider you can use to increase the font size and make the text easier to read. We recommend taking frequent breaks and adjusting your screen brightness to help prevent digital eye strain and its uncomfortable symptoms.
Our practice tests work best when paired with the official Commercial Driver Handbook (California CDL Handbook 2026). You can open it in another window and search for the correct answers. The DMV includes an individual section on the pre-trip inspection (Section 11). Please read it multiple times during your learning phase to familiarize yourself with this procedure.
