- Perfect for first-time and renewal CDL/CLP applicants, and those adding endorsements
- Based on 2025 CO commercial driver's license manual
- Triple-checked for accuracy
- Updated for August 2025
Are you ready to begin your commercial driving career in Colorado? Before you may apply for a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), you must first get a Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP). This process involves submitting proof of identity and Colorado residency, passing a vision test, and completing a DOT medical exam to operate in non-excepted commerce. One of the most important steps in the licensing process is passing the official written general knowledge exam, a 50-question test based on the official Colorado Commercial Driver License Manual (Colorado CDL Handbook 2025).
For a Class A CDL, you must also pass the official combination vehicles knowledge test. We also recommend passing the air brakes knowledge exam, as most commercial vehicles use air brake systems. Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) is a federal requirement mandated by FMCSA in all U.S. states and the District of Columbia. You must complete this training from a provider listed in FMCSA’s Training Provider Registry (TPR).
Mastering commercial driving theory doesn’t happen overnight. It requires repetition, understanding, and access to efficient tools that can boost your learning potential. Our Colorado CDL Class A Practice Test is an intuitive tool designed to help you become a better commercial driver. Its content and format closely reflect the official written knowledge exams, helping you prepare in advance. We update this practice test regularly (most recently for August 2025) to reflect the latest updates brought by DMV rules or state law. You will always practice with the latest version, but we recommend checking the official CO DMV website for the most up-to-date information.
With unlimited attempts and 24/7 access, there’s no limit to how often you can train with this practice test. You can use it while commuting to work, waiting in line, or after dinner. Start today and dedicate the following weeks to your learning phase. Keep track of your scores and watch your performance naturally improve with time.
