In Delaware, the licensing process for tanker drivers is regulated by the Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV). To operate a commercial vehicle that carries liquid or gaseous cargo in tanks with an individual rated capacity of more than 119 gallons and an aggregate rated capacity of 1,000 gallons or more, you must add the Tank Vehicles (N) endorsement to your CDL (Commercial Driver’s License). Most tanker jobs require a Class A CDL, but you may qualify for certain local jobs with a Class B CDL.
To earn the N endorsement, you must pass a written knowledge test covering liquid surge, pre-trip inspections specific to tanker vehicles, and commercial driving regulations. If you plan to haul fuel or other hazardous materials, a HazMat (H) endorsement is also required. New CDL holders must complete Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT), pass a vision screening, and score 80% or higher on the official General Knowledge Test.
Our Delaware CDL Tanker Vehicles Practice Tests are designed to help you study efficiently. Each test includes several multiple-choice questions based on Section 8 (Tank Vehicles) of the official Commercial Driver License Manual (Delaware CDL Handbook 2026). This is the second practice test in this series, which takes around 6 minutes to complete. However, we highly advise against rushing. Please finish each session at your own pace and take as long as you need to answer all questions. For your convenience, we have omitted any timer from this practice test.
