- Perfect for first-time and renewal CDL/CLP applicants, and those adding endorsements
- Based on 2025 FL commercial driver's license manual
- Triple-checked for accuracy
- Updated for August 2025
Florida is one of the busiest states in the country for commercial drivers. With major shipping ports in Miami, Jacksonville, and Tampa, the demand for qualified professional drivers remains high year-round. From refrigerated freight to flatbed hauls, there’s no shortage of routes or vehicle types. Whether you want to support the local economy or drive across the country, Florida provides the ideal environment where professional drivers can build stable and rewarding careers.
To get a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), you must pass two written knowledge exams and meet several other requirements. The official general knowledge exam consists of 50 multiple-choice questions based on the official Florida Commercial Driver License Manual (Florida CDL Handbook 2025). You must score 80% or higher to pass, leaving little room for error. The official combination vehicles knowledge test will evaluate your understanding of how to safely operate combination vehicles, such as tractor-trailers. Since most commercial vehicles are equipped with air brakes, we also recommend that you take the official air brakes knowledge exam.
To help you prepare for the general knowledge exam, we created the Florida CDL Class A Practice Test. This intuitive tool can significantly boost your learning potential and should not be missing from your toolkit. You don’t need to install any complex software or go through a complicated sign-up process. This practice test can be accessed directly in a browser on a compatible device with a stable internet connection. All 94 questions have multiple answer choices, but only one is correct. Please think before you select an answer and read every question twice to avoid making mistakes.
A standout feature of this tool is the voice-over function, which can be found in the test settings menu. Once activated, an artificial voice will read the questions and answer choices aloud, making it easier for you to focus. Use this practice test regularly to reinforce your knowledge and prepare for the challenges and responsibilities of operating commercial vehicles on Florida’s busy roads.
