In addition to the vision test, you must pass a DOT medical exam to engage in non-excepted commerce. Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) is a federal requirement mandated by FMCSA in all US states and the District of Columbia. This training covers essential topics, ensuring you’re prepared for both the CDL skills tests and real-world driving situations. You must get your ELDT from a provider listed in FMCSA’s Training Provider Registry (TPR).
The official general knowledge exam consists of 50 multiple-choice questions based on the official Georgia Commercial Driver’s Study Guide (Georgia CDL Handbook 2025). You must score 80% or higher to advance in the licensing process and get your Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP).
