Georgia places student safety at the forefront before a new driver gets behind the wheel of a school bus. The process for adding a School Bus “S” Endorsement to an existing CDL begins with the passing of the Georgia School Bus Endorsement Knowledge Test. (Passing the Skills Test in a school bus comes later.) Georgia complies with federal regulations but also adds its own. Prospective drivers must complete Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT), meet state background check procedures, and register through the DDS’s AIM system.
