Before you can legally drive a tanker truck in Kentucky, you must get a Tank Vehicles (N) endorsement on your CDL (Commercial Driver’s License). The Kentucky State Police (KSP) oversees the licensing process and requires all applicants to pass the official Tank Vehicles Knowledge Exam. Your knowledge of surge management, commercial driving regulations, and emergency procedures will be evaluated through 20 questions. You must score 80% or higher to pass.
Most students use the official Commercial Driver’s License Manual (Kentucky CDL Handbook 2026) as their primary study resource. This handbook will teach you the basics of general commercial driving theory. You can use it to build a solid foundation for your driving skills. However, it might not be enough on its own to help you ace your theory exams on your first attempt.
To support your learning journey, we offer a series of practice tests designed to teach you how to safely operate tankers. This is our second Kentucky CDL Tanker Vehicles Practice Test, and you can train with it anytime, anywhere in the world. All questions are based on Section 8 (Tank Vehicles) of the official Commercial Driver’s License Manual. Each question has multiple answer choices, but only one is correct.
We recommend training with this tool for several weeks. Your knowledge and confidence will gradually improve over time, so you shouldn’t expect overnight results. This intuitive tool can also be used for educational purposes by those who are unfamiliar with this subject. Each question includes a detailed explanation that makes this complex topic easier to understand. For future reference, you should note this feedback in a notebook or notebook app.
