Driving combination vehicles requires advanced driving skills and thorough knowledge. To begin your trucking career, you must get a Class A CDL (Commercial Driver’s License). Before obtaining a CDL, applicants must be at least 18 to get a CLP (Commercial Learner’s Permit). However, driving professionally across state lines, transporting passengers, and carrying hazardous materials are only allowed for commercial drivers aged 21 and older.

Before you can get a CLP, you must pass the official general knowledge exam. Your knowledge of commercial driving regulations, emergency procedures, and pre-trip inspections will be evaluated through 50 multiple-choice questions. A minimum score of 80% is required to pass, leaving little room for error. Our Free Maine CDL Permit Practice Test can help you master general commercial driving theory and achieve a passing score on your first attempt.

The official combination vehicles knowledge exam is the second written test you must pass. It consists of 20 questions based on Section 6 (Combination Vehicles) of the official Commercial Driver License Manual (Maine CDL Handbook 2026). This Maine CDL Combination Vehicles Practice Test is an efficient educational resource that can help you master this subject through active learning. You get unlimited attempts and nonstop access to train with this tool as often as you wish, giving you the flexibility you’ve been looking for.
