Massachusetts RMV Driver’s Handbook (AUDIO) 2026

The Massachusetts RMV Learner’s Permit Exam includes 25 multiple-choice questions, and you must answer at least 18 correctly within 25 minutes to pass (72% minimum score required). Preparing for this exam can be tricky because of the massive amount of information covered in the official state manual. Our Massachusetts RMV Driver’s Manual Audio Handbook gives you the official study material in a format that is much easier to use. Instead of being tied to a printed manual or computer screen, you can listen while riding across town, walking, exercising, doing chores, or getting a quick review in between classes. For many aural learners in the Bay State, hearing the material can make the content easier to remember. When you pair the audio handbook with our expert-crafted AI-powered Massachusetts RMV Permit Practice Tests, you can rest assured you’ll be prepared for everything the official exam might throw your way.

The official exam covers safe driving practices, state laws, alcohol misuse, suspensions, Junior Operator License violations, rules of the road, and identifying road signs. Also covered are road test preparation, Junior Operator requirements, traffic signs and signals, pavement markings, right of way, speed limits, parking, passing, highway driving, sharing the road with bicyclists and pedestrians, school bus rules, railroad crossings, distracted driving, drowsy driving, impaired driving, crashes, and suspensions. When a section needs extra review, simply hit replay. Because the official test gives you only about one minute per question, you’ll want to be as prepared as possible. Our audio handbook and practice tests ensure you are completely familiar with the official test format. (Unlike many states, Massachusetts allows you to take the permit exam online after you submit your application.)

Beginning July 1, 2023, as part of the state’s Work and Family Mobility Act, Massachusetts no longer requires proof of lawful presence to obtain a Standard Class D or Class M Driver’s License. You’ll still need to meet the standard identification requirements and pass the written and road tests. However, lawful presence is still required for REAL ID licenses and Commercial Driver’s Licenses (CDLs).

Once ready, start using our Massachusetts RMV Permit Practice Tests. The Challenge Bank™ feature in our practice tests brings missed questions back for additional review.
