Passing the Combination Vehicles Knowledge Test is required to earn a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and legally operate combination vehicles in Mississippi. There are a couple of additional steps, including passing a skills test in a combination vehicle. But, before you can even schedule your CDL skills test, you must successfully complete Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) through an FMCSA-approved provider.
The Combination Vehicles Knowledge Test in Mississippi includes 20 multiple-choice questions. To pass, you must answer at least 16 correctly (a minimum score of 80%). If you do not pass, you must wait one business day before taking the test again and pay a retest fee for each attempt (Mississippi CDL Manual).
Our Mississippi CDL Combination Vehicles Practice Tests are designed to exceed the basic study guides found elsewhere. Our practice exams are based on the latest Mississippi CDL Manual and mimic the official exam. By providing real-time feedback, hints, and detailed explanations for each response, we can help you pass the official exam on your first attempt. Topics include safe driving practices for combination vehicles, air brake systems in combination vehicles, proper coupling and uncoupling techniques, and pre-trip inspection procedures specific to combination vehicles.
Written in-house by our teamBased on MS CDL Handbook
Questions are created and maintained by the Driving-Tests.org content team following our multi-layer editorial process and updated whenever the MississippiDMV changes its handbook or website information. Official sources we check:
Earning your Class A CDL significantly increases your marketability as a commercial driver in Mississippi. Major industries that rely on Class A CDL drivers include logistics, manufacturing, agriculture, seafood, energy, construction, and wholesale distribution. Companies like Sanderson Farms, Cal-Maine Foods, Ergon, Inc., KLLM Transport Services, Dollar General, and Pepsi Bottling Ventures require qualified CDL drivers. Routes in the state include I-55 (connecting Memphis to Jackson and New Orleans), I-20 (running through Meridian and Jackson to Vicksburg and Louisiana), and I-10 (crossing the southern portion of the state through Gulfport and Biloxi).
We encourage you to take steps to remove the air brakes restriction from your CDL (if you haven’t already). Because most combination vehicles use air brakes, this is a must. Our Air Brakes Practice Tests are designed to help you pass that exam on your first attempt. You may also consider endorsements such as Tankers (N), Hazardous Materials (H), and Doubles/Triples (T) to further expand your career options. And yes, we have practice tests for those knowledge tests as well!

What we use
Driver handbook • Knowledge‑test/permit overview • Fees & ID requirements • Office/appointment info
How we make exam‑like questions
We mirror recurring themes (e.g., right‑of‑way traps, sign look‑alikes) and use similar distractors and wording styles.
What we don’t do
We don’t collect or publish actual test items and we’re not affiliated with DMV.
