To earn your Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and legally haul freight in a combination vehicle on Nebraska’s roads, you must pass the Nebraska Combination Vehicles Knowledge Test (in addition to meeting several other requirements). You’ll need to answer at least 16 questions correctly (an 80% score) to pass. If you fail, Nebraska law requires you to wait one business day and pay a retest fee before retesting. Many opportunities open up for you once this license is obtained, so keep reading for guidance on how to pass your tests on the first attempt.
Our Free Nebraska CDL Combination Practice Tests mirror the official Nebraska DMV exam and are based on the primary source for the official test: the Nebraska CDL Manual. You’ll get instant feedback, awesome hints to speed learning, and a scientifically structured format that is more efficient than traditional study guides.
You’ll master the most commonly tested topics like safe driving practices for combination vehicles, preventing trailer skids and jackknives, air brake systems and procedures for tractor-trailers, coupling and uncoupling techniques, and detailed inspection procedures for semis and doubles. We offer several practice tests for this skill. Check out another one here: https://driving-tests.org/nebraska/ne-cdl-combination-test/.
Before you can schedule your required behind-the-wheel CDL skills test, federal law requires completion of Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) from a provider listed on the FMCSA Training Provider Registry (TPR). You must pass the General CDL Knowledge Test, pass the aforementioned Combination Vehicles Knowledge Test, obtain a Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP) and hold it for at least 14 days, and then pass a skills test in a representative combination vehicle.
With your Class A CDL, doors will open to Nebraska’s combination trucking sector. You’ll qualify for many of Nebraska’s highest-demand and best-paying transport jobs. Major freight in the Cornhusker State includes grain, fertilizer, livestock, building materials, and manufactured goods. Trucking routes, such as Interstate 80, U.S. Highway 81, and Highway 77, connect Grand Island, Lincoln, Omaha, and beyond. Major employers like Crete Carrier Corporation, FedEx Freight, Grand Island Express, and Werner Enterprises rely on Class A CDL-certified drivers.
If you skip the Air Brakes Knowledge Test, your CDL will carry an L or Z restriction, preventing you from operating vehicles with air brakes and making your Class A CDL virtually useless. Check out our Air Brakes Practice Tests: https://driving-tests.org/nebraska/ne-cdl-air-brake-practice-test/.
Our Nebraska CDL practice suite also includes practice tests for endorsements. Check out our Hazardous Materials Endorsement Practice Tests: https://driving-tests.org/nebraska/ne-cdl-hazmat-practice-test/. Prepare, pass on the first attempt, and begin your career!
