If you want to work as a school bus driver in Nebraska, you must obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with the School Bus (S) and Passenger (P) endorsements. The process of obtaining a CDL involves passing the written knowledge tests for the CDL class and both endorsements. After achieving a score of 80% or higher, you will receive your Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP), which you must hold for at least 14 days. During that time, you must complete Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) from a provider listed in FMCSA’s Training Provider Registry (TPR). Once your permit and training are in place, you’ll take a skills test covering the pre-trip inspections, basic maneuvers, and on-road driving.
Before you can get behind the wheel of a school bus, you must learn and master commercial driving theory. In Nebraska, the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) publishes the official Commercial Driver’s License Manual (Nebraska CDL Handbook 2026). This resource should not be missing from your toolkit. You are encouraged to read its contents multiple times to learn more about this subject. This manual also includes a separate chapter on the safe operation of school buses, which is what the official written knowledge exam is based on.

Questions are created and maintained by the Driving-Tests.org content team following our multi-layer editorial process and updated whenever the NebraskaDMV changes its handbook or website information. Official sources we check:
Our Nebraska CDL School Bus Endorsement Practice Test is based on the same manual. It consists of 20 multiple-choice questions, which you can answer at your own pace. For your convenience, we have omitted any timer from this practice test. Avoid rushing and read every question twice before you select an answer. Unlike other practice tests that reveal your score at the end, ours updates in real time. We will point out your mistakes as soon as they occur, so you can learn the correct answer before proceeding to the next question.
Driving a school bus involves great responsibility. That’s why school districts hire professional drivers to safely transport children to and from school. As you begin your learning phase, remember that you are studying not only to pass the official written knowledge test but also to develop the skills required to ensure the safety of every student on board.
We know what it takes to pass. And we’ve got the proof.
Driver’s Ed is - nobody wants to set foot inside the DMV. That’s why millions of learners trust us for simple, visual, effective prep.

What we use
Driver handbook • Knowledge‑test/permit overview • Fees & ID requirements • Office/appointment info
How we make exam‑like questions
We mirror recurring themes (e.g., right‑of‑way traps, sign look‑alikes) and use similar distractors and wording styles.
What we don’t do
We don’t collect or publish actual test items and we’re not affiliated with DMV.
