Longer Combination Vehicles (LCVs) are combination vehicles consisting of a tractor and two or three trailers. You’ll need a Class A CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) with a Double/Triple (“T”) endorsement to legally operate LCVs. In Upstate NY, many fuel haulers drive double tankers to transport large quantities of gasoline or heating oil. This job will require the Tanker (“N”) and HazMat (“H”) endorsements in addition to the “T” endorsement. There’s a long learning journey ahead of you, but we’ll help you along the way.
Our practice tests offer a systematic approach, which is more effective than traditional study methods. 75 New York residents are currently in a practice session, improving their knowledge through active learning. Now you’re about to take our fourth New York CDL Double/Triple Trailers Practice Test, which covers topics such as coupling and uncoupling double and triple trailers, preventing rollovers, and safely handling emergency situations.
All questions on this practice test are based on Section 7 (Doubles and Triples) of the Commercial Driver’s License Manual (New York CDL Handbook 2026), an official resource published by the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). You can use both resources to study efficiently. Keep the manual open in another browser window while you work through the questions. If you have difficulty finding the correct answer, our automated assistant will provide you with hints. You can also request real-life examples and detailed explanations.
There’s no additional skills test required to obtain the “T” endorsement. However, you must dedicate plenty of time and effort to pass the official Double/Triple Trailers Knowledge Test on your first attempt. Train with this practice test and keep track of your scores. When you consistently achieve passing scores above 90%, you can go to the DMV office and take your theory exams.
