Are you planning a career as a truck driver? In North Carolina, there’s a constant demand for Class A CDL holders. This license allows you to operate a variety of commercial vehicles, including combination vehicles with a gross combination weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 pounds or more, whose trailer exceeds 10,000 pounds. The Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) oversees the licensing process and requires all applicants to pass several theory and skills tests.
Your knowledge of general commercial driving theory will be evaluated through 50 multiple-choice questions when you take the official general knowledge exam. The official combination vehicles knowledge test is the second exam in the Class A CDL licensing process.
