Ohio CDL Class A Practice Test 2025

  • Perfect for first-time and renewal CDL/CLP applicants, and those adding endorsements
  • Based on 2025 OH commercial driver's license manual
  • Triple-checked for accuracy
  • Updated for August 2025

Aspiring commercial drivers in Ohio must pass a 50-question general knowledge exam to get a Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP). This test is based on the official Ohio Commercial Driver License Manual (Ohio CDL Handbook 2025), which you should read multiple times in your learning phase. A minimum score of 80% is required to pass, leaving little room for error. You must also pass a vision test, pay the licensing fees, and submit identification documents. Applicants for a Class A CDL must also pass the official combination vehicles exam.

With a CLP, you can practice driving a commercial vehicle on public roads, but only with a qualified CDL holder in the front passenger seat. FMCSA mandates Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) for all aspiring commercial drivers in the United States. You must wait at least 14 days and complete ELDT from a registered training provider before you can schedule and take the CDL skills tests. Most semi-trucks and heavy commercial vehicles in Ohio are equipped with air brakes. To legally operate such vehicles, you must also pass the official air brakes knowledge exam and pass a skills test in a vehicle equipped with air brakes.

Our Ohio CDL Class A Practice Test is designed to significantly boost your learning potential. This intuitive tool has 93 multiple-choice questions and several features. The voice-over function uses an artificial voice to read the questions and answer choices aloud. Activate this feature from the test settings menu to increase your focus and eliminate distractions. You get unlimited attempts to train as often as you wish.

Do not let a low score discourage you. Instead, you should learn from your mistakes as soon as they occur. A detailed explanation is provided for each question, helping you understand the reasoning behind the correct answer. Please note this feedback in a notebook or notebook app and revisit the material during future practice sessions.

You cannot learn commercial driving theory overnight. It takes time and effort to become a skilled driver, so you should avoid rushing through your learning phase. We’ll help you get a Class A CDL, but you must dedicate plenty of time to mastering this subject. Our practice tests can help you study efficiently. With nonstop access, you can use them anytime.
