To obtain a permit or license in the Buckeye State, you will need to understand the material covered in the Ohio BMV Driver Manual and pass the official 40-question multiple-choice knowledge test with a minimum score of 75%. The amount of material covered on the exam is substantial, and can quickly become daunting as you begin to dive into your studies. However, our Ohio BMV Audio Handbook gives you a great way to prepare without being tied to a printed manual or a screen. Listening to the MP3 files (on- or off-line), you can study while riding, walking, exercising, working around the house, or using free moments throughout the day. Learning with multiple senses (eyes and ears) can increase retention and speed the overall process. Listen to the Audio Handbook, then practice with our interactive AI-powered Ohio BMV Permit Practice Tests: https://driving-tests.org/ohio/ohio-permit-practice-test/.
At age 15 years and six months, you may complete the vision screening and knowledge test. After passing the vision screening and knowledge test, the next step is to obtain a Temporary Instruction Permit Identification Card, or TIPIC. Ohio requires you to purchase the TIPIC at a Deputy Registrar License Agency within 60 days of passing the test, or you’ll need to start all over again with the vision screening and knowledge test. The audio handbook covers all of this, as well as your need to provide your full legal name, date of birth, Social Security number if assigned, citizenship or legal presence, and address. If you’re under 18, a parent or guardian must be present to co-sign the TIPIC application. All of this and more is covered in the audio handbook.
The audio handbook covers vehicle inspection, tire safety, lights, seat and mirror adjustment, air bags, safety belts, vision, aggressive driving, distracted driving, speed limits, right-of-way, traffic signals, signs, lane markings, two-way left-turn lanes, crosswalks, starting, stopping, steering, backing, intersections, turning, roundabouts, lane travel, and changing lanes. You’ll learn about entering and exiting highways, passing, railroad crossings, school buses, parking, work zones, night driving, fog, winter driving, speed management, space management, and much more.
You’ll also cover state-specific anomalies like studded tires, which are legal in Ohio only from November 1 through April 15. Headlights are required from sunset to sunrise, during poor visibility, and whenever windshield wipers are used! All of this and more await you in the audio handbook.
