Did you know that a proper pre-trip inspection can catch most vehicle defects that lead to the top roadside violations and out-of-service orders? This important procedure is mandated by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) for all commercial drivers in the United States. The official Commercial Driver Manual (Oregon CDL Handbook 2026) includes more information about this subject. You should read Section 11 (Vehicle Inspection) multiple times during your learning phase. This section also includes a detailed checklist you can use during your CDL skills exams, as long as it does not contain any additional markings or written notes.
The pre-trip inspection involves a walk-around procedure, which you should perform the same way every time to make it easier to remember. You will check the brakes, lights, steering mechanism, turn signals, mirrors, and emergency equipment, among other things. Our Oregon CDL Pre-Trip Inspection Practice Tests can help you master this procedure through active learning. Each test has been designed to closely reflect the content and format of the official General Knowledge Test. You’re about to take the second practice test in this series.
Driving-Tests.org is listed in the official FMCSA Training Provider Registry for Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) theory certification. Verify on tpr.fmcsa.dot.gov

What we use
Driver handbook • Knowledge‑test/permit overview • Fees & ID requirements • Office/appointment info
How we make exam‑like questions
We mirror recurring themes (e.g., right‑of‑way traps, sign look‑alikes) and use similar distractors and wording styles.
What we don’t do
We don’t collect or publish actual test items and we’re not affiliated with DMV.
