Free TN CDL School Bus Practice Test 2025

  • Perfect for first-time and renewal CDL/CLP applicants, and those adding endorsements.

To become a school bus driver in Tennessee, you must complete specialized training programs and pass a general knowledge test for your Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), a School Bus knowledge test and a skills test in an actual school bus. You must also pass a Passenger Vehicles knowledge test if the school buses you’ll be driving are designed to carry 16 or more occupants including yourself. This training will help you gain the necessary skills to safely operate school buses on the diverse roads of Tennessee, which can sometimes be unpredictable.

In rural areas, narrow roads with limited visibility and reduced space often require even the most experienced drivers to proceed with extreme caution. As a school bus driver, you must be prepared for the frequent weather changes which are common in this part of the country. Heavy rain or icy conditions can create slippery surfaces. With a 24,000-pound school bus filled with almost 72 children, even a minor accident could be catastrophic.

That’s why aspiring school bus drivers in Tennessee follow a strict process before they can get behind the wheel of a school bus. In addition to obtaining a CDL with an S endorsement, applicants must also complete a federally mandated Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) program. It includes both classroom instruction and practice lessons, which further solidify the foundation for your newly acquired driving skills.

Additional requirements include passing a medical exam and clearing a criminal background check. If this entire process seems difficult, we recommend breaking it into smaller steps. Initially, you’ll start with the learning phase weeks before you take the official written exam. During this time, you can try our CDL School Bus practice tests specific to the state of Tennessee. Each consisting of 20 questions, these tests closely reflect the official knowledge exam, which is based on the official 2025 CDL manual (Tennessee CDL Handbook 2025).

If you’re stuck on a difficult question but don’t want to skip it, our automated assistant can give you a hint. Without revealing the correct answer, it will give you a hint that will nudge you in the right direction. At any point, you have the option to restart the test and get a fresh start, but be advised that the order of the questions will change.
