Replace or Renew Your Driver License in South Carolina

Your South Carolina driver’s license expires on your birthday every 8 years (10 years for REAL ID). The SCDMV will send a renewal notice about 60 days before your license expires. - Proof of Social Security number

- Two proofs of SC residency
- Pass the vision test: You must meet minimum vision standards.
- Pay the fee: $25 for a standard license.
- Receive your new license: Your permanent license will arrive by mail within 10 business days. Find a DMV office near you

You may be eligible to renew online at SCDMV Online Services if you meet these requirements:- Your license is not expired for more than 9 months
