- Perfect for first-time and renewal CDL/CLP applicants, and those adding endorsements
- Based on 2025 AL commercial driver's license manual
- Triple-checked for accuracy
- Updated for August 2025
Passing the CDL Double/Triple Trailers Knowledge Test is required for this endorsement on your Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), which allows you to operate doubles in Alabama. (Alabama does not allow you to pull triples on public roads.) If you have not yet earned your Class A CDL, you must first complete Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) through a provider registered with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). Only at that point can you progress toward satisfying testing requirements administered by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA).
The Alabama Double/Triple Trailers Knowledge Test consists of 20 multiple-choice questions. You must answer at least 16 questions correctly (80%) to pass. If you fail, ALEA requires a minimum waiting period of one business day before retesting and an additional fee if you exceed three testing attempts.
Our Free Alabama CDL Doubles/Triples Trailers Practice Tests are designed to ensure first-time success and help you avoid unnecessary delays and fees. Our tests simulate the official exam and use scientifically proven features like real-time feedback, hints, and AI tools that speed learning and increase retention.
Our practice exams follow the most recent Alabama CDL Manual and cover the handling of double and triple trailer combinations, procedures for coupling and uncoupling trailers, techniques for preventing rollovers and trailer jackknifing, braking and following distances, and trip inspections.
With major Alabama roadways like I-65, I-20, I-10, and I-59 and major hubs like Birmingham, Montgomery, Mobile, and Huntsville, earning your Double/Triple Trailers (T) Endorsement allows you to tap into a much wider range of opportunities. Logistics companies, regional haulers, and long-haul employers like AAA Cooper Transportation, FedEx Ground, and Walmart Distribution Centers require doubles/triples-endorsed drivers.
To further increase your marketability, we encourage you to earn additional endorsements such as Tanker (N), Hazardous Materials (H), and Combination Hazmat/Tanker (X). Each requires a separate knowledge exam, and we offer Alabama-specific practice tests to help you prepare!
If you haven’t already, you’ll need to pass the Air Brakes Knowledge Test and remove any air brake restrictions from your license (a must for doubles/triples drivers). We offer dedicated Air Brakes practice exams to help with that as well.
This practice test is one of two in our suite of Alabama-specific Double/Triple Trailers Practice Tests. Be sure to explore our full suite of Alabama-specific practice tests to prepare for your official exam, restriction removals, and additional endorsements!
