If you are considering a career in commercial driving, you should take the first step as soon as possible. Before you begin the licensing process and obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), you will go through your learning phase, which can last several weeks or a few months. During this time, you will study the various aspects of commercial driving theory, focusing especially on the topics that are relevant to your profession. The official Alaska Commercial Driver License Manual (Alaska CDL Handbook 2025) will be your primary study resource. Please read it multiple times to understand the basics of commercial driving theory. To fully master this subject, you can use our Alaska CDL Permit Practice Test.
Only Class A CDL holders can drive combination vehicles. You must be at least 18 to qualify for this license, but you cannot drive across state lines until you turn 21. The official combination vehicles knowledge test consists of 25 multiple-choice questions based on the combination vehicles section of the commercial driver’s license manual. To get a Class A CDL, you must pass the general knowledge and combination vehicle written tests, plus a skills test in a combination vehicle. Our Alaska CDL Combination Vehicles Practice Test can significantly boost your learning potential. Available 24/7, this intuitive tool can be accessed on any compatible device. All you need is a stable internet connection and a few hours of your time.
Customize your testing experience with the test settings menu. This menu is located in the top-right corner of the page and can be opened by clicking the three dots. You can activate several features, change the language, and adjust the font size slider from here. If you get stuck on a difficult question, “Officer Frank” can provide hints that nudge you in the right direction. Initiate a conversation with your AI coach and request help whenever needed.
Please avoid rushing your learning phase. Study commercial driving theory at your own pace and improve your knowledge one training session at a time. Our practice tests work best when paired with the official commercial driver’s license manual. You can open it in another browser tab while you work through the questions.
