To make an emergency stop with the "stab braking" method, you should
depress the brake pedal as hard as you can, release the brakes when the wheels lock, and apply the brakes again when the wheels start to roll.
pump the brake pedal rapidly and lightly.
brake hard until the wheels lock and then release the brakes for as long as the wheels have been locked.
Ease off once the wheels lock, and then go again.
To stop with stab braking, brake hard, release the brakes once the wheels lock, and then brake hard once the wheels start to roll again. (Clearly, this method won't work if your vehicle has antilock brakes, because the wheels won't lock. Use controlled braking instead.)

Is this course compliant with the federal ELDT requirements?
Yes. Driving-Tests is an official FMCSA-licensed national ELDT theory training provider listed in the Training Provider Registry, and our program fully complies with all the ELDT theory requirements. Once you've completed the program, we'll submit your ELDT Certificate to the Training Provider Registry, and you'll be officially approved to proceed with your training. Learn more.
Is Driving-Tests.org a legitimate FMCSA-approved ELDT provider?
Absolutely! Driving-Tests.org is an approved theory training provider for all 50 states and Washington, DC (except for WA). We're listed on the FMCSA's Training Provider Registry (TPR) — you can verify by switching to the "Online" tab or searching for "Driving-Tests.org".

Since February 2022, we've proudly issued a significant 23,958 ELDT certificates. We're also authorized by FMCSA to issue ELDT theory certificates for Class A, B, B->A upgrade, as well as for HazMat, Passenger, and School Bus endorsements. Check out these screenshots for more details:
