First, you will need to add a ‘P’ endorsement to your Illinois Class A, B, or C Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). This endorsement allows you to operate a vehicle designed to carry 16 or more people, including the driver. Applicants must pass a written knowledge test and a road skills test to obtain this endorsement. The knowledge test concentrates on your comprehension of Driving Safely, Transporting Passengers Safely, Pre-Trip Vehicle Inspection, and Basic Vehicle Control Skills. This test requires you to answer 80% of the 20 questions correctly to receive a passing score. Now that you know your goal, what is the best way to prepare to reach it?
