An “L” restriction on your Oklahoma Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) prohibits you from driving vehicles equipped with air brakes. Since most semi-trucks and full-sized buses are equipped with air brakes, you will experience more difficulty securing the best driving opportunities with an “L” restriction. Commercial trucking companies, such as J&R Transport, and public transportation providers, like Embark Bus, depend on air brake-qualified drivers to keep their vehicles on the road. Air brakes make it possible for drivers to regulate their speed and safely navigate changing road conditions while transporting heavy loads. It takes sufficient knowledge of air brake operations to avoid unfortunate incidents caused by black ice, narrow bridges, or stalled traffic. However, you must begin by using an effective training method.
Our Oklahoma DPS CDL air brake “endorsement” practice test is designed to help you rapidly develop your knowledge of air brake systems. Removing the “L” restriction from your CDL requires you to demonstrate your ability to drive an air brake-equipped vehicle, inspect the air brake system, and pass an Air Brakes Knowledge Test. The practice test strategically prepares you to meet each of these requirements. Using 30 questions, the practice test quizzes you on your current knowledge of air brake systems and determines the information you must learn to increase it. The official knowledge test requires you to correctly answer at least 80% of its 30 questions to pass, and the practice test is designed to help you succeed.
