Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) is a federal requirement mandated by FMCSA for all 50 states and the District of Columbia. You must get your ELDT from a provider listed in the Training Provider Registry (TPR) before you can schedule and take the CDL skills tests. Since the Class A CDL lets you drive combination vehicles, you must also pass the official combination vehicles knowledge test as well as the air brakes knowledge test (if you plan to drive trucks equipped with air brakes).
