Rhode Island Motorcycle Practice Test 3 2026

9 min
Perfect for:
First-time motorcycle riders
Adding M endorsement to existing license
Moped/scooter permit (varies by state)

Rhode Island may be the smallest state, but it gives motorcyclists a surprising variety of places to ride. The Ocean State offers coastal roads, historic towns, and scenic routes for riders who crave a sense of adventure. A motorcycle can be a practical way to explore places such as Newport, Narragansett, and the coastal communities along Route 1A. However, you will be exposed to strong winds from the Atlantic. Inexperienced riders often underestimate the difficulties of riding in coastal winds. A sudden crosswind can be enough to cause a loss of confidence or even an actual loss of control.

It’s important to be prepared before you get on a motorcycle. Start by reading the official Driver’s Manual (Rhode Island Motorcycle Manual), focusing especially on Section 6, which discusses riding theory and teaches you how to safely ride a motorcycle. As you begin the licensing process, you will be required to pass several theory and skills exams. The official Motorcycle Knowledge Exam includes 25 questions. You must score 80% or higher to pass, leaving little room for error.

In Rhode Island, 1 students are currently training with our practice tests. You can do the same by taking this third Rhode Island DMV Motorcycle Permit Practice Test. You will answer multiple-choice questions similar to those you will encounter on exam day. Please keep in mind that each question has multiple answer choices, but only one is correct.

Many of our practice tests are untimed, including this one. Whether it takes you a few minutes or up to one hour, you can complete this practice test at your own pace. Topics covered include group riding, hazard awareness, following distance, and lane positioning. Focus on improving your knowledge and building a strong foundation for your riding skills. Ignore your scores during your first few attempts, learn from your mistakes, and pay attention to the detailed explanations.

Before exam day, you can use our Rhode Island DMV Motorcycle Permit Practice Test to evaluate your knowledge. Once you feel ready, you can go to the DMV office and take the official Motorcycle Knowledge Exam.
