- Perfect for first-time and renewal CDL/CLP applicants, and those adding endorsements
- Based on 2025 LA commercial driver's license manual
- Triple-checked for accuracy
- Updated for July 2025
An essential step toward driving combination vehicles is to pass the CDL Combination Vehicles Knowledge Test, a requirement for earning a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) in Louisiana. Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) through an FMCSA-approved provider is also required before you can schedule your required CDL skills test (a hands-on test that must be taken in a representative combination vehicle).
The Louisiana Combination Vehicles Knowledge Test consists of 20 multiple-choice questions, 80% of which must be answered correctly to pass. If you miss more than four questions and fail the exam, you must wait at least one business day and pay a retest fee. Our Louisiana CDL Combination Vehicles Practice Test is designed to help you pass on your first attempt.
Our practice test mirrors the format of the official exam. It addresses topics like safe driving practices for combination vehicles, air brake systems in combination vehicles, correct coupling and uncoupling procedures, and thorough pre-trip inspections. More than just a basic study guide, our practice test is based on the most recent Louisiana Commercial Driver’s License Manual and provides immediate feedback, hints, and detailed explanations to speed the learning process.
Let’s get real for a moment. The point of adding certifications is not to have another notch on your driver’s belt but to earn more money. With major trucking corridors in Louisiana such as Interstates 10, 12, 20, and 49 and U.S. Routes 61 and 90 and Highway 1, earning your Class A CDL will expand your career opportunities. Louisiana’s economy relies heavily on oil and gas, petrochemicals, and agriculture, including sugarcane, seafood, soybeans, and cotton. The Port of South Louisiana is one of the largest ports in the Western Hemisphere. All these economic sectors demand combination-certified CDL holders.
You should also pass the Air Brakes Knowledge Test, as most combination vehicles are equipped with air brakes. We offer Louisiana Air Brakes Practice Tests to help you pass on your first attempt. Other endorsements you should consider include Tanker (N), Hazardous Materials (H), and Doubles/Triples (T). Finally, you can obtain the Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements if you ever want to carry passengers for pay.
The Class A CDL significantly boosts your employability and opens doors across Louisiana’s major industries. Use our complete suite of Louisiana practice tests to prepare and pursue additional endorsements to realize your career potential.
