- Perfect for first-time and renewal CDL/CLP applicants, and those adding endorsements
- Based on 2025 NM commercial driver's license manual
- Triple-checked for accuracy
- Updated for July 2025
To become a school bus driver in New Mexico, begin the licensing process by getting a Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP). To do this, you must pass the official CDL general knowledge exam, provide identification documents, and pass a DOT physical exam. Once you have the CLP, you must prepare specifically for school bus driving and passenger transport. You’ll need both the Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements. This requires passing a written test for each endorsement and a skills test in a school bus.
You must also complete at least 36 hours of pre-service training, consisting of classroom instruction, observation riding routes, first aid, defensive driving, and familiarization with the school bus. We’ll help you pass the official written knowledge exam for the school bus endorsement by giving you access to an intuitive tool. Our New Mexico CDL School Bus Endorsement Practice Test has 20 multiple-choice questions based on the official New Mexico Commercial Driver License Manual (New Mexico CDL Handbook 2025). To pass, you must score 80% or higher.
We have omitted any timer from this practice test. You should finish each training session at your own pace and only select an answer when you’re confident of your choice. Every mistake you make and learn from during your learning phase is one less you’ll make on the official exam. We provide immediate feedback with each question, helping you understand the reasoning behind the correct answer. Please pay attention to this detailed explanation and note it in a notebook or notebook app for future reference.
Preventing eye strain starts with making the words on your screen easier to read. If you have difficulty reading the text, use the slider from the test settings menu to increase the font size.
