The Department of Customer Services is in charge of motor vehicle and licensing tasks in Hawaii. You will need to visit the right office for your needs. The state has separate offices for licensing and motor vehicle tasks.
The state of Hawaii has many Driver Licensing Centers to choose from so you should be able to find one that is located close to your home. These services keep different hours and are open on different days of the week. Some are open Monday through Friday, while others are only open Tuesday and Thursday.
In addition, the state operates different types of licensing offices. There are full-service locations and satellite locations. The satellite locations don’t offer written and road tests. They only provide license renewals and duplicates. The full-service locations provide all licensing services.
Preparation will cut down on the time it takes when you visit a Driver Licensing Center. The Department of Customer Service makes it easy to prepare by offering an interactive document guide. When you visit the guide, select Driver License, Instruction Permit, or State ID. Then, you will answer a series of questions. When you are done, the site will let you know which documents you need to bring with you. It will also include links to the forms you will need to fill out. You can print the forms off and fill them out before you arrive at the DMV. If you have all of your documents and forms ready when you arrive at the DMV, you will be able to get in and out quickly.
You can visit a Satellite City Hall location for your motor vehicle registration needs. You can also take care of your registration needs online. You will need to have your license plate number and the last four numbers of your VIN to complete the task online. You can pay with MasterCard, Discover, or Visa.
