Obtaining a learner’s permit is necessary for any new driver to legally drive while supervised. In the Last Frontier, you’ll need to pass the Alaska DMV written Knowledge Examination and a vision screening to obtain this permit. Once you obtain your learner’s permit, you can drive with a licensed driver who is at least 21 years old and seated in the front passenger seat. Failing the knowledge exam means waiting at least one business day and potentially paying an additional retest fee. Our Alaska DMV Written Permit Test Questions & Answers Practice Tests help you avoid delays and additional fees as they guide you toward passing the official exam on your first attempt.

The knowledge exam covers Alaska traffic laws, road signs, and safe driving practices. Questions cover real driving situations, including recognizing traffic control devices, understanding right-of-way rules, and demonstrating safe judgment behind the wheel. The official exam is designed to test conceptual understanding of the material, not just memorization. Because of this style of testing, our team of experts has crafted a series of practice tests that include photorealistic test questions as well as AI-powered responses, an interactive driving manual, and a detailed review provided at the end of each practice session. This review presents any categories that require further study. Furthermore, our Challenge Bank™ of questions remembers any you miss and provides an opportunity for you to attempt them again until mastery. With all of these features and more, our practice tests go beyond the typical printed study guide and ensure you can pass your exam on day one.

Alaska has a three-stage process toward licensing: Permit, Provisional, and Full Licensure. In Alaska, a learner’s instruction permit may be obtained as early as age 14 (earlier than in most states). The permit will remain valid for two years, and minors must obtain parental consent before issuance. For drivers under 18, after holding a permit for at least six months, completing 40 hours of supervised driving, and meeting any additional requirements, they may apply for a provisional license. Adults must still obtain a learner’s permit by passing the Vision Screening and official exam; however, they can take the Road Skills Test for full licensure once they feel ready.

Our practice tests eliminate any fluff so you can focus on the topics that matter most for the test. Ace this practice test and try another: https://driving-tests.org/alaska/alaska-dmv-practice-test/. You can also explore additional practice tests, such as Road Signs and Fines and Limits.
