CA DMV Exam Simulator for Seniors 2025

  • Perfect for learner’s permit, driver’s license, and senior refresher test
You’re one of the most experienced drivers on the road. But the rules have changed. Fines. Speed limits. Regulations. Insurance rules. You’ll need to know the ins and outs of all of those for your renewal exam. This Exam Simulator is designed to help you prepare for the official Senior Citizens' Renewal Exam at California DMV. It's the closest experience you'll get to taking the exam. You'll get a new set of 25 questions every time you restart it. We recommend you take it at least three times, but please feel free to take it as many times as you need to confidently conquer the real test. To simulate the DMV experience, this Exam Simulator offers no hints, no explanations, and it will shut off if you miss 4 questions (just like the test screens at the DMV).

What to expect from your official exam at the DMV

  1. You'll get 25 questions. You're allowed to make 4 mistakes maximum.
  2. If you fail the written test, you are required to wait 7 days before attempting it again. Your application fee allows you 3 chances to pass the knowledge test. If you fail 3 times, you’ll have to reapply entirely.
  3. You will take the test on a touchscreen computer at one of the DMV’s Touchscreen Terminals (TSTs). You'll select your preferred language, log in using the same thumbprint that you used to begin the driver license process, and begin the multiple choice test. The TST system does not require computer skills and there is no mouse. The “print” size can be enlarged to make the knowledge test easier to read.
  4. The official exam is available in several languages, large print English, an audio version, or a video version for those who use American Sign Language.
  5. Every question on the test is taken from the California Driver Handbook. Take your time and read each question carefully. There is only 1 correct answer. The other 2 answers will be either obviously wrong or close to being correct; however, not the most accurate.

We know how Driver's Ed goes

The material is dry. Studying it is tedious. And you don't want to step foot inside the DMV. So you dread it, avoid it, pretend it doesn't exist. Or you go to the DMV and shoot your shot. You walk in. Take a number. Then the number takes your soul.

Noses sneeze. Babies cry. Frustration groans. And when it's finally time to take your test, you're sweating. Thirty minutes later, you're crying. Because despite your best efforts. You failed. Next thing you know, you're chasing a Waymo in circles to get home (embarrassing!).
That ends here.
At Driving Tests, we know emotions can get in the way of doing what you need to do. So we deliver Driver's Ed that makes it easy to start, and even easier to finish. We get you DMV Smart ASAP. Testing you with real, up-to-date questions. Backing up tricky driving situations with easy-to-grasp visuals & engaging practice tests that reaffirm what you know, and test you again on what you don't. So by the time test day comes - you *own* the DMV. Your only worry? Convincing the proctor you didn't cheat ;)
