With a driver’s license, you’ll be able to drive yourself to work in Louisville, Lexington, Bowling Green, or even Cincinnati, Ohio. You can see the sights on Kentucky’s scenic byways or steep yourself in history via the Country Music Highway. Or go shopping at the Fayette Mall or the Mall St. Matthews. Or drive anywhere else you desire.
But what if you fail the knowledge test for a permit? Then, compared with the freedom of a driver’s license, you’ll be effectively grounded. You won’t even be able to practice driving under supervision. You’ll still have to depend on others to drive you around when they can.
You may be thinking, “It’ll be easy for me to pass the knowledge test. I’ll just read the official driver’s manual (Kentucky DMV Handbook (KY Driver's Manual) 2025) a couple of times before the exam.” A lot of other aspiring drivers thought so too. But in 2020 – 2023, about 30.4% – nearly one-third – of aspiring drivers failed the knowledge test.
To be sure of passing the knowledge test, you need to do more than just read the manual. That’s why we’ve provided you with various interactive test preparation materials to help you learn and memorize all the information you need to pass the knowledge test.
