Maryland MVA Fines and Limits Permit Practice Test 2025

  • Perfect for learner’s permit, driver’s license, and senior refresher test

Each day, about 37 people are killed in alcohol-related crashes in the United States. In 2022, 13,524 people died in alcohol-related traffic crashes. (According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), alcohol consumption is a contributing factor in about 28 percent of all traffic deaths.) That same year, there were also 12,151 speeding-related deaths nationwide. Speeding was a contributing factor in 29 percent of traffic fatalities.

In 2020, 10.1 percent of Maryland’s drivers had at least one speeding ticket on their driving record. In 2023, there were 621 traffic fatalities in the state, including 158 pedestrians and 15 bicyclists. Impairment by alcohol or drugs was a factor in 124 of the traffic fatalities, and speeding was a factor in 178 of them.

Prepare for your learner’s instructional permit test AND stay on the right side of the law with our special free Maryland Fines and Limits permit practice test. It’s up to date as of October 2025. This test focuses not so much on the rules of the road but on the legal consequences of violating those rules, especially the possible loss of driving privileges. The practice test is up to date as of October 2025 and is based on Maryland’s official driver’s manual (Maryland MVA Handbook (MD Driver's Manual) 2025).

You’ve been learning the rules of the road. But suppose that after you get licensed, a police officer observes you violating those rules in Maryland and pulls you over. How can you handle the traffic stop safely? And what about the charges? What penalties will a provisionally licensed teenage driver face for a moving violation if found guilty? Will the driver’s license be suspended or revoked? Can you be charged with driving under the influence (DUI) even if your blood alcohol level is below the legal limit? Suppose a driver under 21 years of age is convicted of driving under the influence (DUI) for the first time. Might they be required to install an ignition interlock device (IID) in their car? And besides various traffic offenses, what other circumstances might result in your losing your driving privileges?

As with the other Maryland practice tests we offer, each of the 50 questions and answers on this Fines and Limits permit test comes with an optional hint and a helpful explanation of the correct answer.

Our other Maryland permit practice tests help you learn how to drive. This Maryland Fines and Limits Permit Practice test will help you stay out of trouble long after you’ve earned your driver’s license.

The material is dry. Studying it is tedious. And you don't want to step foot inside the DMV. So you dread it, avoid it, pretend it doesn't exist. Or you go to the DMV and shoot your shot. You walk in. Take a number. Then the number takes your soul.

Noses sneeze. Babies cry. Frustration groans. And when it's finally time to take your test, you're sweating. Thirty minutes later, you're crying. Because despite your best efforts. You failed. Next thing you know, you're chasing a Waymo in circles to get home (embarrassing!).
That ends here.
