Road signs are everywhere. They tell us when to stop, when to go, how fast we can drive, and what to expect ahead. As a new driver in Minnesota, understanding road signs may seem overwhelming at first. However, memorizing them becomes easier once you adopt a smarter approach.
The Minnesota Driver and Vehicle Services (DVS) division issues the official driver’s handbook (Minnesota DMV Handbook (MN Driver's Manual) 2026). This comprehensive guide has been designed to help new drivers understand traffic laws, safe vehicle operation, handling various driving conditions, and obeying the rules of the road. The driver’s handbook also presents some of the most common road signs you’ll encounter on Minnesota’s roads. It is your responsibility to memorize them since a significant portion of the official written knowledge test is about road signs.
Use our Minnesota Road Signs practice tests during your learning phase to evaluate your understanding of these road signs. Each practice test consists of 25 questions, and to pass, you’ll need to score at least 80%. If you find the text too small or you wish to change the language, look for the “Test settings” menu at the top-left corner of this page. From here, you can also activate the voice-over and answer popularity features as well as a detailed list of keyboard shortcuts.
