Ohio BMV Permit Practice Test Questions 2025

  • Perfect for learner’s permit, driver’s license, and senior refresher test

To get a driver’s license in Ohio, applicants must first obtain a Temporary Instruction Permit Identification Card (TIPIC) by passing a written knowledge test and vision test. The official knowledge exam consists of 40 multiple-choice questions based on the official Ohio driver manual (Ohio BMV Handbook (OH Driver's Manual) 2025). You must score at least 75% to pass, so there is little room for mistakes. After obtaining a TIPIC, you’ll practice driving on Ohio’s roads under the supervision of a licensed adult. For applicants under 21, additional requirements include completing a driver education course and logging supervised driving hours.

We’ll help you pass the official written knowledge exam on your first attempt, provided you are dedicated to mastering this subject. Our Ohio BMV permit practice tests closely reflect the content and format of the official written knowledge exam. Each practice test has been updated for October 2025 and consists of 40 multiple-choice questions. For your convenience, we have omitted any timer and added several features. The “Test settings” menu on the left side of the page allows you to adjust the font size, enable the voice-over function, and change the language of the practice test.

Our automated assistant will be present during each training session. It can provide hints that nudge you in the right direction without revealing the correct answer. Additionally, you can request real-life examples and further explanations to reinforce your knowledge. Since this intuitive tool is available 24/7, there’s no limit to how often you can train with our practice tests. Start a session at the grocery store, the doctor’s office, or the airport before your flight.

Becoming a safe and responsible driver in Ohio takes more than a passing score on a knowledge test. As you begin your learning phase, dedicate the following weeks to mastering the various aspects of driving theory. Study traffic laws, road signs, and safe driving practices and learn about the risks of distracted driving and the importance of defensive driving techniques.

We know how Driver's Ed goes

The material is dry. Studying it is tedious. And you don't want to step foot inside the DMV. So you dread it, avoid it, pretend it doesn't exist. Or you go to the DMV and shoot your shot. You walk in. Take a number. Then the number takes your soul.

Noses sneeze. Babies cry. Frustration groans. And when it's finally time to take your test, you're sweating. Thirty minutes later, you're crying. Because despite your best efforts. You failed. Next thing you know, you're chasing a Waymo in circles to get home (embarrassing!).
That ends here.
At Driving Tests, we know emotions can get in the way of doing what you need to do. So we deliver Driver's Ed that makes it easy to start, and even easier to finish. We get you DMV Smart ASAP. Testing you with real, up-to-date questions. Backing up tricky driving situations with easy-to-grasp visuals & engaging practice tests that reaffirm what you know, and test you again on what you don't. So by the time test day comes - you *own* the DMV. Your only worry? Convincing the proctor you didn't cheat ;)
