In Oregon, if you’re under 18, you must obtain an instruction permit to practice driving under supervision – and passing the official knowledge test is a key requirement. If you’re at least 18, you must still pass the knowledge test for a license, but the permit is optional. You may take the road test immediately after passing the knowledge test if you feel ready.
The Oregon DMV written test has 35 multiple-choice questions based on the official driver’s manual (Oregon DMV Handbook (OR Driver’s Manual) 2026). The passing score is 80% (28 correct).
This is our second Oregon Permit Practice Test, current for May 2026 and based on the official Oregon driver’s manual. Topics include changing lanes, emergency vehicles, motorcycles, parking, pavement markings, the right-of-way, road signs, and turns.
Our AI Assistant can give hints or explanations if you get stuck. You can retake the test as often as you want until you’ve mastered the material. We also offer an Oregon Permit Test Study Guide with document checklists, fees, and frequently missed questions.

Use this second set to check sharing the road plus highway driving after the first permit practice test
This page is online practice, not the official DMV exam. Use it to check sharing the road plus highway driving, then confirm the current OR testing option before relying on an at-home exam.
Based on the categories assigned to this second practice test pool.
Treat this as a second read, not a repeat of the first practice test.

Test 2 changes the question mix so you can separate understanding from memorized answers.
Use Test 3 to confirm that sharing the road plus highway driving no longer pull your score down.
