Looking for what is needed to pass your official exam and obtain your South Carolina learner’s permit? Our South Carolina DMV Written Permit Test Questions & Answers Practice Test is the number one choice for everything you’ll need to know. Before you can legally practice driving in the Palmetto State, you must first pass the South Carolina DMV Written Permit Test as well as a vision screening. Applicants must be at least 15 years old and must hold the beginner’s permit for a minimum of 180 days before becoming eligible to apply for any type of driver’s license. The tests often include questions with tricky wording that require more than surface-level memorization of facts. You’ll need deep conceptual understanding. And our practice tests deliver that!

Because the knowledge test evaluates your understanding of traffic laws, road signs, safe driving practices, and real-world driving situations, becoming fully prepared for the exam is unlikely with static pdfs or printed study guides. Our practice tests provide photorealistic examples that mirror what you’ll face on the official exam. Further, our interactive state manual and AI-powered responses to each question help you learn as you go, rather than being bombarded with corrections at the end of your assessment. Our practice tests also feature an end-of-session review that highlights areas for further study. Our trademarked Challenge Bank remembers every question you miss and reinserts it into the queue until you answer correctly. Once you’ve aced this practice test, try another: https://driving-tests.org/south-carolina/south-carolina-permit-practice-test/.

With a beginner’s permit, you may drive between 6 a.m. and midnight but only if accompanied by a licensed driver who is at least 21 years old and has at least one year of driving experience, seated in the front passenger seat. After midnight, supervisors require further qualifications. These supervision requirements are part of South Carolina’s Graduated Driver’s License (GDL) program for drivers under 18. Drivers 18 and older are still required to obtain a learner’s permit but are not subject to the timing requirements prior to their skills test.

For applicants ages 15 and 16 seeking a first-time driver’s license, additional requirements apply. In addition to holding the beginner’s permit for more than 180 days, they must complete an approved driver education course, practice for at least 40 hours (including 10 hours at night), and meet school attendance standards.

You’ll also want to spend time with our Road Signs and Fines and Limits Practice Tests, as these subjects form a significant part of the written exam.
