In Utah, you must pass the DLD Permit Test to get your driver’s license. The test assesses your knowledge of driving theory as described in the official Utah Driver Handbook (Utah Driver Handbook).
The Utah DLD written test has 50 multiple-choice questions. To pass, you need at least 40 correct (80%).
This is our second Utah Permit Practice Test, current for May 2026 and based on the official Utah Driver Handbook. Each question has four answer options – click the best one. Optional hints are available if you’re unsure (the real DLD exam has no hints).
You’ll get immediate feedback – green for correct, red for incorrect, with an explanation for each mistake. You can retake the test as often as you need; questions will be randomized each time.

Every first-time Utah license applicant must pass an additional 40-question online exam called the TSTT before applying for a permit. Unlike the standard knowledge test, the TSTT requires a score of 100% - not 80%. The TSTT can be retaken an unlimited number...

Treat this as a second read, not a repeat of the first practice test.

Test 2 changes the question mix so you can separate understanding from memorized answers.
Use Test 3 to confirm that turning and u-turns plus construction zones no longer pull your score down.
