Road signs are an important part of driving safely, especially in a state like Colorado. Imagine driving on I-70 westbound, ascending toward the Eisenhower Tunnel. The road climbs steadily, with signs warning of “Steep Grade Ahead – Use Lower Gear.” As a licensed driver, you must be wary of the road signs you encounter along the way. It is your responsibility to memorize all the road signs presented in the official DMV driver’s handbook (Colorado DMV Handbook (CO Driver's Manual) 2025), which is an essential resource issued by the Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV).
The Colorado DMV written test has 25 questions based on this manual. You must correctly answer at least 80% to pass. A significant part of this knowledge test is based on road signs. Although these questions are simple and straightforward (each featuring an image of a road sign), they require your full attention to answer correctly. Recognizing the signs is not enough; you must also know their meanings and how to respond to them in real-life scenarios.
To make it easier for you, we have created a learning environment that you can use to fully master this subject. Each of our Colorado Road Signs practice tests has been designed to closely reflect the official knowledge exam, with all of the 25 questions exclusively featuring road signs. For your convenience, we have omitted a timer. Each session terminates once you reach the end of the practice test or when you press the restart button.
We recommend ignoring your score during the first few training sessions, when you’re more likely to fail. Use our Road Signs practice test as a complementary resource to your learning process. With repetition, it is easier to memorize the various road signs and their meanings. Continue your training even when you’re not at home. Pay attention to the road signs you’re passing by every day and try to identify their meanings. Note them down in a physical notebook or a notebook app on your phone and see which ones are most common in your area.
