About this test
The Colorado DMV knowledge test is a series of 25 multiple-choice questions based on the 2024 Colorado Driver Handbook. To pass and get your permit, you’ll need an 80% score, or at least 20 correct answers. Colorado divides its permit process into three age categories. 15-15½-year-olds may get a driver education permit if they pass the DMV written test and provide proof they’ve completed a 30-hour driver education course. 15 ½ -16-year-olds must also pass the written test, but may choose to take a 30-hour education course or a four-hour driver awareness class to apply for a minor instruction permit. For those over 16 and under 21, you’ll just need to pass the DMV written test. Colorado requires minors to hold their permit for at least 12 months before they can test for their driver’s license. Bring a signed parental consent form if you’re under 18 and the $16.80 permit fee to your local DMV to take the real thing after you’ve practiced by using this 32-question multiple-choice free CO DMV permit practice test. The progress bar on the left-hand side will show you whether the answer is right or wrong by marking each question green or red. If you make a mistake, don’t forget to read our explanations to increase your future chances of success. Do the test all over again until you feel confident that you can do it really well – each time the answers will be randomized.
