To get your Wisconsin driver’s license, you must pass two official tests: the DMV written knowledge test and the highway signs test. Both are based on the official Wisconsin driver’s manual (Wisconsin DMV Handbook (WI Driver’s Manual) 2026).
The Wisconsin knowledge test has 50 multiple-choice questions, plus a separate 15-question road signs test. To pass, you need 80% on each (40 correct on knowledge, 12 correct on signs).
This is our second Wisconsin Permit Practice Test, current for April 2026 and based on the official driver’s manual. Topics include changing lanes, colored curbs, following distance, pavement markings, the right-of-way, road signs, slippery roads, traffic signals, and turns. Choose the best or most complete answer for each question.
Our AI Assistant can give hints or explanations if you’re stuck. You can retake the test as often as you want; questions will be randomized each time. We also offer a Wisconsin Permit Test Study Guide with document checklists, fees, and tips for staying relaxed yet alert during the tests.
