Hawaii DMV Fines and Limits Permit Practice Test 2025

  • Perfect for learner’s permit, driver’s license, and senior refresher test.

Our free Hawaii Fines and Limits permit practice test will help you pass your instruction permit knowledge test AND maintain the driving privileges you are working so hard to obtain. This specially designed permit practice test focuses on the possible consequences of poor driving. It is up to date as of November 2025 and is based on Hawaii’s official driver’s manual (Hawaii DMV Handbook (HI Driver's Manual) 2025).

Here are some topics addressed by the 50 questions and answers on this practice test: What are the blood alcohol content (BAC) limits for driving under the influence (DUI), being legally impaired, and being under 21 years of age? How long will your license be revoked if you fail a chemical test for BAC or refuse the test? How do the penalties for refusing the test differ from the penalties for failing the test? How does answering a traffic crime charge differ from answering a traffic infraction charge? Which traffic accidents must be reported to the police, and what are the consequences if you don’t? What are the required minimum vehicle liability insurance coverages, and what are the penalties for noncompliance? Finally, some other questions deal with the rules and restrictions on driving with an instruction permit or driving with a provisional license under the Graduated Licensing Program (GLP).

In the United States, about 37 people die in alcohol-related crashes every day. That works out to about one fatality every 39 minutes. About one-third of all traffic deaths involve alcohol-impaired drivers. In 2022, 13,524 people died in traffic crashes in which alcohol impairment was a contributing factor. That same year, there were also 12,151 speeding-related deaths nationwide. Speeding was a contributing factor in 29 percent of traffic fatalities.

In Hawaii in 2022, there were 116 total traffic fatalities, including 41 passenger vehicle occupants, 33 motorcyclists, 28 pedestrians, and 7 cyclists. 165 drivers were involved in these fatal crashes. Of the 41 passenger vehicle occupants who were killed, 14 were in passenger cars, 11 were in pickup trucks, 14 were in SUVs, and 2 were in vans. 37 of the total fatalities were alcohol related (a BAC of 0.08% or higher), and 48 fatalities were speed related.

The traffic laws are there for our safety. This Fines and Limits permit practice test illustrates some of the serious consequences that can flow from violating those laws.
