Free Indiana BMV Written Test Study Guide 2025

  • Perfect for learner’s permit, driver’s license, and senior refresher test.

Aspiring drivers in Indiana can apply for a learner’s permit as soon as they turn 15 if they are enrolled in a driver’s education program. Those aged 16 or older may apply without being enrolled. With this permit, drivers must operate a vehicle only under the supervision of a licensed driving instructor, a licensed adult at least 25 years old, or a spouse at least 21 years old. Applicants under 18 must provide parental consent and complete a state-approved driver’s education course. This course includes both classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel training. In addition, drivers under 21 are required to log 50 supervised driving hours, including 10 at night.

Before obtaining a license, all applicants must pass a vision screening and a 50-question knowledge exam, followed by a driving skills test. We’ll help you pass the official written knowledge test, but you must put in the time and effort necessary to learn and master driving theory. The official Indiana Driver’s Manual (Indiana BMV Handbook (IN Driver's Manual) 2025) explains driving theory in detail, so you should read its contents at least once. When you’re ready, use our Indiana BMV Written Test Study Guide practice test to boost your learning potential and prepare for the official written knowledge test.

This intuitive tool has been designed to help students improve their knowledge while familiarizing themselves with the official testing experience. All 20 questions have multiple answer choices, but only one is correct. If you make a mistake, you’ll receive immediate feedback to help you understand why your choice was wrong. Each question includes a detailed explanation of the correct answer. Please note these explanations down in a notebook or notebook app so you can review them later and reinforce your learning through repetition.

Noses sneeze. Babies cry. Frustration groans. And when it's finally time to take your test, you're sweating. Thirty minutes later, you're crying. Because despite your best efforts. You failed. Next thing you know, you're chasing a Waymo in circles to get home (embarrassing!).
That ends here.
