When the Pilgrims sailed on the Mayflower and landed at Plymouth Rock, there were no road signs showing them the way around this new land. However, if you drive along Old Kings Highway today, you will find road signs from there to Cape Cod, providing important information about your route. Road signs help you follow road rules, warn you about upcoming road situations, and provide guidance to destinations. When preparing to take your Massachusetts driver’s knowledge test, you should be aware that your knowledge of road signs will be assessed.
Using our free Massachusetts RMV Road Signs practice test, you will develop a thorough knowledge of these signs. Since the official knowledge test includes numerous questions about road signs, failure to demonstrate your ability to recognize and react to them may result in failing the exam. The practice test provides instruction on how to understand the messages of these signs when you see them. Road signs may tell you to stop at an intersection, warn you to watch for pedestrians, provide directions to your destination, or guide you through a road construction zone.
This Road Signs practice test is designed to provide an optimal learning experience for improving your driving habits. The practice test is based on the most recent Massachusetts RMV driver’s manual (Massachusetts RMV Handbook (MA Driver's Manual) 2025) and is up to date as of October 2025. You may think you could use a study guide and get better results. That could be a risky proposition. The practice test includes 50 multiple-choice questions with pictures of various road signs for you to identify and demonstrate your understanding. If you get a question wrong, a detailed explanation of the correct answer is provided. This method is better for helping you thoroughly understand the test material. A study guide is geared more toward helping you memorize the answer to a question without explaining the reasoning. This approach doesn’t prepare you for more difficult questions that require advanced thought. Are you ready to experience the advantages the practice test offers?
