This Fines and Limits practice test is up to date as of February 2026. It’s based on New Jersey’s official driver’s manual (New Jersey MVC Handbook (NJ Driver's Manual) 2026) and the New Jersey Revised Statutes.
The 60 questions and answers on this test are primarily concerned with New Jersey’s Point System and various offenses that can lead to your losing your New Jersey driving privileges.
There are questions on the number of points added to your driving record for such common offenses as speeding, tailgating, failing to yield to a pedestrian, and passing a stopped school bus with flashing red lights. There are also questions on the penalties for a first, second, or third conviction for driving under the influence (DUI), including the length of license suspension; the penalties for refusing a breath test for alcohol; and the penalties for reckless driving, driving while your license is suspended for DUI, leaving the scene of an accident (hit and run), and other offenses.
