The licensing process in Tennessee requires all applicants, regardless of age, to pass the official written knowledge exam. This test will evaluate your knowledge of driving theory with 30 multiple-choice questions based on the official Tennessee Comprehensive Driver License Manual (Tennessee DMV Handbook (TN Driver's Manual) 2025). The Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) advises all aspiring drivers to read this manual several times during their learning phase.
Our Tennessee Driver’s Handbook Practice Test is an intuitive tool designed to make you a better driver. It is up to date as of October 2025 to reflect the latest updates brought by DMV rules or state law. You can access it directly in your browser on any compatible device with a stable internet connection. Train while waiting for dinner to finish cooking, taking your lunch break, or commuting to work. Your progress will be automatically saved as long as you’re not in private browsing mode. If you interrupt an active session, you can resume it later from the last answered question.
The test settings menu includes several features you can use to customize your testing experience. You can access this menu by clicking the three dots in the top-right corner of the page. From here, you can use the slider to adjust the font size. Make the text bigger until it is easier to read and prevent eye strain.
Your personal Challenge Bank™ stores the questions you get wrong. Visit this section to identify areas that need improvement and learn from your mistakes. Pay attention to the detailed explanation and use it to understand the reasoning behind the correct answer. Note it in a notebook or notebook app and revisit the material during your practice sessions. Keep in mind that these questions will remain in your Challenge Bank until you answer them correctly.
Start today and dedicate the following days to studying the basic aspects of driving theory. Read the official comprehensive driver license manual multiple times. When you’re ready, use our Tennessee Driver’s Handbook Practice Test to fully master this subject.
