Thinking about getting a job and commuting to work by car? Some examples are taking I-66, I-95, or the Capital Beltway to government contracting or consulting work in northern Virginia; I-64, I-264, or U.S. Route 13 to defense or shipbuilding work in Hampton Roads; I-95, I-64, or State Route 288 to healthcare or finance in Richmond; and I-81 or U.S. Route 220 to healthcare or manufacturing in Roanoke. However, to commute by car anywhere, you must have a driver’s license. In Virginia, all new drivers, regardless of age, must obtain a learner’s permit to practice driving under supervision before they may apply for a driver’s license. You must be at least 15½ years old to get a permit. One crucial requirement for a learner’s permit is to pass two official tests: a vision test and a knowledge test on traffic signs, Virginia motor vehicle laws, and safe driving techniques. Could you use some help studying for the knowledge test? Great! That’s what we’re here for!
Here is our Virginia Permit Practice Test. We designed it to help aspiring drivers like you pass the DMV knowledge test. Like the official knowledge test, this practice test is based on the official Virginia driver’s manual (Virginia DMV Handbook (VA Driver's Manual) 2026).
