How to Get Your Tennessee Learner’s Permit

Most people think one or two quizzes is enough - then the DMV knowledge exam surprises them. On Driving-Tests.org, every question is based on the official Tennessee Driver’s Manual and written in real exam style: tricky wording, double-negatives, and the same pitfalls people miss at the counter.

How to study (step by step)

  1. Start your application

At age 15 or older, begin your application at the Tennessee DMV. (Parental/guardian consent required if under 18.)

  2. Take the Diagnostic Test

See what you know right now and what needs practice.

  3. Practice Tests (At least 2–3 sets)

Complete at least 2–3 sets. Short 10-minute sessions tend to work best.

  4. Clear your mistakes

Open the Challenge Bank and fix every missed question, then move to the next set.

This was very useful practice for my TN permit test!
I actually did the not so recommended method of studying the weekend before my Monday exam instead of the typical 1-2 weeks. Honestly I was confident that I would pass even with the crunch time, but I will say I can memorize things somewhat quickly. For any TN permit takers out there if you use this service in combination with the short online practice exam on the gov website then you're very likely to pass no sweat.

3-4 days study and Still PASSED!
The content is really good. You are supposed to at least study one week before the test to really absorb all the information. I just studied for 3-4 days and I still passed the knowledge test on my first try. The way you learn is really easy and all the information available should be enough for you to pass if you study everything. I would recommend giving you a week to study, but I’m a tryhard and a hard procrastinator, that’s why I just studied the Whole content in 3 days lol. I would completely recommend.

I got a perfect score.
I managed to get an earlier date for the exam I had initially been scheduled for — I had to get ready in just two days! I used this site to prepare, and I got a perfect score. I highly recommend it for anyone studying for the knowledge test.
