Dreaming of cruising on the San Juan Skyway in a convertible? Or perhaps you’re more interested in a practical SUV, which is an ideal choice for a daily driver in Colorado. Cities like Denver and Colorado Springs feature busy highways where you’ll have to master driving skills, while the mountain roads will teach you how to drive safely on steep inclines and winding curves.
In Colorado, all aspiring drivers must pass the official written knowledge exam before they can get a driver’s license. You must answer 25 multiple-choice questions and score 80% or higher. In addition to the written knowledge test, you must pass a vision exam, pass a driving test, and pay the $16.80 permit fee. Applicants under 18 must provide signed parental consent, and those under 16 must also complete a driving course. After passing the written test, you are eligible for an instruction permit that allows limited driving privileges.
Our Colorado DMV permit practice tests are designed to help you study more efficiently. This intuitive tool significantly boosts your learning potential and shortens the time it takes for you to master driving theory. Each practice test consists of 40 multiple-choice questions based on the official Colorado driver handbook (Colorado DMV Handbook (CO Driver's Manual) 2025). To pass, you must score at least 80%. Turn mistakes into learning opportunities and benefit from unlimited attempts. Each time you retake the test, you can focus on the areas where you need to improve. Learn at your own pace and make sure you understand the explanation of each correct answer before moving on to the next question.
Driving theory is not rocket science, even though some complex words might confuse students who are unfamiliar with this subject. Ask our AI assistant to clarify any confusing points that you may find in our practice tests. Stuck on a difficult question? Perhaps you’re unsure of the correct answer, but you don’t want to skip ahead. Request a hint from the automated assistant, which will provide insight that nudges you in the right direction.
