IN BMV Written Test Simulator – Study Online 2026
You must meet a series of requirements to obtain a driver’s license in Indiana. Importantly, you must pass a visual screening and a knowledge test for a learner’s permit. This credential will allow you to practice driving under supervision.
The knowledge test has 50 multiple-choice questions based on the official driver’s manual (Indiana BMV Handbook (IN Driver's Manual) 2026). The test is divided into two sections: one section covers Indiana traffic laws and safe driving techniques, and the other covers traffic signs and signals. The passing score for each section is 80%, and you must pass both sections to pass the knowledge test. If you fail the test, you can take it again on the next business day.
Think it will be easy to pass the BMV knowledge test once you’ve read the official driver’s manual a couple of times? Not necessarily! In 2020 – 2023, about 57% – more than half – of aspiring drivers failed the Indiana knowledge test on their first try. Therefore, we’ve provided you with a variety of interactive test preparation tools to help you learn and memorize all the information you need to pass the knowledge test. Our premier tool is a series of practice tests also based on the official manual, up to date as of January 2026, and ordered in increasing levels of difficulty. Each practice test is accompanied by our AI-based assistant, which can give you hints and explanations to help you answer the test questions and accelerate your learning process.
